2025年7月3日至7日，德州中部遭遇百年一遇的閃電洪水，克爾郡（Kerr County）與瓜達盧佩河谷（Guadalupe River Valley）一帶受到重創。一場突如其來的洪水在短短45分鐘內暴漲超過26英呎，沖毀了營地木屋，將露營者與車輛沖走，災情慘重，讓人心碎不已。
根據多方媒體報導，截至目前，死亡人數已超過120人，仍有超過170人失聯，許多受難者是參加夏令營的孩童與年輕輔導員。原本充滿歡笑與回憶的營地，如今成為家屬痛心等待的現場。
在這場災難中，我們見證到生命的脆弱，但是也看見團結與關愛的力量，與人性的光輝。身為在美台灣人社區的一份子，德州是我們的第二個故鄉，本著 「食果子拜樹頭，食米飯拜田頭」、感恩感念的心，達拉斯台灣同鄉會TAADFW(Taiwanese Association of America – DFW Chapter)決定率先響應捐款，支持災區的重建與安置工作。 我們也誠摯呼籲全美國各地的台灣同鄉發揮同理與愛心，無論金額大小，請伸出援手，幫助那些在洪水中失去家園與親人的家庭。
特別提醒您：目前災區已收到大量物資，請暫時不要再捐贈實體物品。目前急需的是能夠靈活運用的資金，用來安置失家民眾、提供心理支持與重建必要設施。每一筆善款，都是對受災者的一份安慰與實際幫助。

When Floods Strike, Love Never Fails — Taiwanese Americans Can Help
From July 3 to 7, 2025, Central Texas experienced a once-in-a-century flash flood, with Kerr County and the Guadalupe River Valley suffering the most devastating damage. In just 45 minutes, torrential floodwaters surged more than 26 feet, sweeping away cabins, campers, and vehicles. The destruction was severe and heartbreaking.
According to multiple news sources, the death toll has exceeded 120, with more than 170 people still missing. Many of the victims were children and young counselors attending summer camps. What was once a place of laughter and memory has now become a place of grief and waiting.
In the face of this tragedy, we have witnessed the fragility of life — and the power of compassion and unity. As members of the Taiwanese American community, Texas is our second home, and the Taiwanese Association of America – DFW Chapter (TAADFW) has taken immediate action by donating funds to support relief and rebuilding efforts.
We now sincerely call on all Taiwanese Americans across the U.S. to show empathy and generosity. No matter the amount, your donation can bring hope to families who have lost everything in the flood.
Please note: The affected areas have already received an overwhelming amount of physical goods, so we kindly ask that no additional material donations be sent at this time. What is urgently needed now is flexible funding — to provide shelter, emotional support, and reconstruction assistance. Every dollar given is a gesture of comfort, and a step toward healing.
Though the floods are merciless, we believe love is never absent. Let us come together to send the warmth and strength of the Taiwanese American community to where it is most needed — so that those who have lost everything may see the light of hope once again.
